About THE SHOW AND HOST

Books discussed on Behind the Pages are for the every day reader as well as the long time literary affectionatto.  Diane Goshgarian has a knack for questioning authors of fiction without giving away the plot of the story and has a talent for eliciting the subconscious forces that lay behind some of the authors’ choices for their character development.  As for non-fiction, she brings her background in medicine, science and psychology to discover with the author the ways in which their topic has relevance to the daily lives of the viewing audience.

Editing Notes

A published author, Goshgarian wrote the historical novel The Arbitrary Sword (Vision Press, 2000) and the short story “The Easy Way” The Fruitful Branch (Brookline Library Foundation, 2002) a collection of short stories.  She studied creative writing at Emerson College, has toured throughout the country giving lectures on her novel and the topic of the Armenian Genocide which she researched extensively.

She was the keynote speaker for the commemoration of the Armenian Genocide in Fresno, CA in 2001.  She also guest lectured at Boston Latin School’s “Facing History and Ourselves” course.

Having established working relationships with publicists at all of the major publishing houses, Goshgarian works regularly with companies such as Random House, Doubleday and Penguin Publishing.  Some of the guests on her current show, Behind the Pages, have included Swanee Hunt, former Ambassador of Austria, Sena Jeter Naslund, Abundance, and Joseph Finder Killer Instinct.

Goshgarian always thoroughly reads the books before interviewing the authors.  Aware that the author knows the characters intimately, she focuses her questions in such a way  that the audience feels the characters are people that they want to know. Authors often comment on the unique and insightful questions she asks throughout the interview.  After the interview, they often express appreciation for Goshgarian’s understanding of the book’s content and the multifaceted effort behind writing it.
